I’ve just been over on Singletrack reading the press release for the new range of USE lights which include the MaXx Daddy for the next incarnation of the new Exposure MaXx range, dubbed ‘MaXx 2′. There’s some cracking new ideas from the Petworth crowd!
The MaXx D (for Daddy I presume) looks brilliant and at 1000 lumens and maintaining the CFD (cable free design) that originally convinced me to go with a USE light in the first place all those years ago, it has got blow Hope out of the water. I’m also loving the RedEye rear light:
A genius idea, and certainly one I’ll be investing in for the roadie – although I’ll be honest in that I reckon it’s overkill for MTBs unless you do a lot of road miles to reach the trails.
The new power switch is also a really good idea to make the on-off switch more easily accessible (something many seemed to struggle with at D2D last year and at the Bonty where you have to turn off or cover your lights so your time can be recorded each lap). There’s also the RedEye Micro which acts as an add-on to the Joystick MaXx to serve as a mini rear light when the Joystick is lid-mounted, and seems to glow when the light is off to serve as a map reading light, or to help you find your light in the dark.
Good to see some decent home-grown stuff! Nice one Rory & Co.

Looks good, hopefully they have adressed the beam spread and they also need to get rid of the clamp that you have to adjust with an allen key. Then add on the fly adjustment and i will buy one again.

Looks better than the first pics that had silver trim round the front! I swear I saw it for £250 something on CRC yesterday, but its £299 today!

Hopefully that lens is tougher than it looks, one flick of a medium sized branch and it could all end in tears!

As well as the new ‘Daddy’ their existing lights (Race, Enduro, Joystick) are going to be upraded to Maxx-2 with a new SPT ‘smart’ socket, so you can plug in rear lights and/or a remote switch.
I like the idea of mounting a Red-Eye on the back of a helmet —>http://www.use1.com/exposure/products/redeye/index.php
