Well what a busy weekend’s riding! It’s rare that the opportunity presents itself to go out riding three days on the trot, but the planets were obviously well aligned for me.
Friday I picked the kids up from holiday club at lunchtime, got them changed, sorted out the tag-along and we headed off for a little circuit round Cissbury Ring. Tom had his climbing legs on and even Holly managed to give me some assistance where it was needed which was nice.
Saturday was a ride for BigSi’s birthday and we had a nice healthy turn out, partly due to rapidly drying trails and no doubt partly due to the promise of cake at the end. A blast down the Lion Trail and a couple of runs of OTF proved to be really enjoyable. It was nice to be back on the MTB after an enforced three week break by the physio. Even better my back held out and my new carbon U.S.E. suspension post did the trick too, even if the boyz do refer to it as ‘The Black Mamba’!!
Then to round things off I’d been promising Tom I’d take him out on a group ride and a little jaunt round Pitch Hill seemed a prefect opportunity. We met the boyz at the usual place and dipped in and out of the ride at various points, shortening it to make it more manageable for Tom.
He tackled it all beatifully and really put the hammer down through ‘Christmas Pud‘ not to mention tackling all the drops and jumps that some of our older crew have been known to baulk at. Makes you proud…….
So a good weekend was had by all, hopefully we’ll still have dry trails this weekend too!…..

Great height Tom, and between the trees too. It does mean that every Dad has lost the excuses of handlebar width too wide, front wheel slipped, glasses fogged up, misjudged the speed needed to jump, forgot it was there and I was looking out for you son – honest.
I am off to refill the camelbak with bravery juice now…..
